Twitter Vs. DeviantArt

I have never heard of DeviantART before, but i think it is a really cool site!  You can share your art.  I can't draw but i enjoy looking at everyones drawings.  You can type in the search bar what kind of art you want to see.  For example i searched Harry Potter, and tons of cool drawing and art works poped up.

My fave social networking site in Twitter.  I'm really big into the whole celeb news.  I love knowing what going on with my fave stars.  It allows you to interact with your faverite celebs, and when you get a tweet from them its the coolest feeling in the world!  Scotty Mccreery has tweeted me before, and Haley Reinhart from last season of American Idol follows me!  Pretty cool huh??  I also talk to my friends on there as well, but i mostly do that on facebook. 

I would have to say that these two site are complety diffrent, but i find both of them intresting.  I will deffieantly check out more artwork on deviantART.  Twitter is mainly for keeping up with the buzz going on with the world weather its celebs or just your friends and deviantART is to share your artwork with others!

American Idol top 24 is here!! FINALLY!

Yes the live shows start next week!!  WHO'S PUMPED?!?!?!  I am!  I can't wait to get to voting for my faves!  So far i would have to say Heejun Han is my fave guy, and its a tie between Elise Testone, Jessica Sanchez, and Jen Hirsh as being my fave girl.

There you have it.  The Top 24 of American Idol Season 10!  BUT WAIT!  There is a twist this year!  The judges are bringing back 1 more boy to be back into the competition, and we will find out who that is on Tuesday when the boys perform for Americans vote.  This will make the top 24 the top 25!! HOLY MOLEY!!!

Broadway Faves: In The Heights

In the Heights is one of my all time fave musicals.  I have seen this show live twice.  Once in NYC while it was still running on Broadway, and once when it came to Rochester.  What i like most about the show is it stays true to the traditional broadway type show but puts an spin on things with more music styles such as rap, hip hop, and latin.  The show appeals to all ages.  When i saw the show in NYC the audience was so diverse.  I remember there was a couple sitting next to me speaking spanhish, an Asian mother and her son in front of me, a older couple who mostly likely go to shows all the time as a hobby, and a African American women behind me.  All ages and races can relate to this show in one was or another.

The story of the musical is the community of Washington Hights, which is mainly an Hispanic area of NYC, are just stuggling in there everyday lifes.  Usnavi the main chacter earns his living as running his corner store with his cousin Sonny.  There is the girls at the salon making a living as hair dressers.  Then there is the Rosarios, a family who owns a taxi cab company.  They all go though life stuggles together.  Here are some of my fave sceans from the show.

This is the first scene in the show.  Usnavi is talking about his daily life of all the people that come in and out of his corner show.  

In this scene someone in the heights has won the daily lotto for 96,000.  Everyone on the corner is sharing what they would do if they won that 96,000.

In this scene Albula, Unsavi's grandma is singing about her life when she immagrated from Cuba as a child.  Later on in the show we find out the she was the one to win the lotto in the heights.

I highley recommend this show.  It one of my faves.  Hope you all enjoyed.  

My Choice of American Idols Top 10 Season 11

The top 10 of American Idol are who go on tour over the summer, so i had to put that into consideration when choosing.  Before I start can i tell you how hard it was to choose only 10!  There are a lot of people not on this list that i am fans of, such as Ericka Van Pelt, Hallie Day, and Baylie Brown.  Alright lets start with the boys.  This in no particular order FYI. 

1. HEEJUN HAN

This guys not only has a pretty voice he is HILAROUS!  Their is never a dull moment with this guy.  Yes he doesn't have the strongest vocal, but damn he is entertaining.  I really hope he stays in the competion for a while.

2. COLTON DIXON

What I like about this kid is we know what kind of album he will make.  I love his style, and his hair is pretty crazy!

3. EBEN FRANNCKEWITZ

We have never had a Justin Bieber type of singer on Idol before.  This kid is 15 and honesly i like his voice A LOT more than the Justin Bieber.  He has great control for a 15 year old, and all the little girl are gonna love him.

4. PHILLIP PHILLIPS

This guy is GREAT on the guitar.  His voice is diffrent and has soul.  I think this kid has a career ahead of him win or lose.

5. REED GRIMM

He is the first guy in Idol history to play the drums while up their on stage singing.  He is so diffrent than anyone else in the competion right now, and that can either make him or break him.  

6. ELISE TESTONE 

This girl has a KILLER voice.  It's so soulful and rich and I just love it.  

7. HALEY JOHNSON

This girl hasn't been giving a lot of air time on idol so far.  We only have seen snippits of her though the audition rounds, but from what i have seen I really like!  

8. JEN HIRSH

This girl can SING!  She reminds me a lot of Pia Toscano from last season, but with some more personility. GO JEN HIRSH!

9. JESSICA SANCHEZ

THIS GIRL IS ONLY 16!  WHAT A VOICE!!!  She is pretty fantastic.  

10. SKYLAR LAINE

So with country music being such a success last season of Idol its only seems right to have at least 1 country artist in the top 10.  This girl is a true blood country singer.  

So there you have it.  My choice of the top 10 of American Idol season 11!  If I had the power to choose that top 10 this would be my picks!  Watch Idol Wendsday and Thursday at 8!

I FELL DOWN THE STAIRS!

Okay time for a ranting blog.  So today my friend Trevor and I had to do a project for Video Production.  We had to go around filming different shots for our assignment.  Anyways we were on our way over to the suites to get a couple of shots, and as I'm walking down the stairs all of a sudden i find myself on the floor!  I don't even remember how i fell!  All i remember was having the feeling of falling then i was on the floor with a very bad pain in my ankle.  It was crazy.  Thank goodness i wasn't holding the camera!  So yea... I'm currently sitting on my couch icing my ankle, and hoping that i can walk normally by tomorrow!  Alright there is my little ranting session! Have a nice night everyone!

Is it ok to download music off of youtube?

It has came to my attention that alot of people no longer pay for their music and have been using YouTube as a source of downloading music.  The site http://www.youtube-mp3.org/ allows you to covert the video file on youtube to a mp3 by just copying the URL and inserting it here. 

Its simple, and it's free.  I have used YouTube mp3 before but i do also buy on itunes.  Let me explain to you why i use both of these methods of getting music for my ipod.

WHY I USE ITUNES- I always buy by my music on itunes if it is a artist that i follow.  Someone who i listen to all the time.  Why?  If i listen to them all the time, go to their concerts, and support everything they do then why not?  By buying their music you are helping their career.  A artist needs sales in order to become a star.  People like Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Katy Perry are so successful not just because people listen to their music, but because people BUY their music.  People that i want to see do well in the music business i buy their music.  For example, I am a huge Haley Reinhart fan.  For those who don't know who Haley Reinhart is, LOOK HER UP ON YOUTUBE RIGHT NOW!  She came in third place on American Idol this past season and her debut album is coming out in may.  Do you think I'm gonna buy that album?  HECK YEA.  I want to see her go far in her career and if i used YouTube mp3 i wouldn't be helping her and her career at all.  Im buying on itunes for artists that i really want to see be successful.

WHY I USE YOUTUBE MP3- Ok so yes i buy alot of my music on itunes, but i also use YouTube Mp3.  Mostly i use it when i know the artist isn't in any need of a sales boost.  Adele for example already has sold millions of albums, she is doing perfectly fine in her career.  So if i want some Adele on my ipod it is just alot easier for me to use YouTube mp3 so i don't have to spend my money.  I also use youtube mp3 when I am not really a fan of the artist but i like maybe one or two of there songs.  I'm not gonna waste my money on a song that I'm not really that into, but it does make my ipod a little bit more interesting.

So to sum this up I guess you could say my opinion on this whole topic is if you like the artist, and want to support them go ahead and buy their music off itunes.  Wouldn't you want your favorite artist to succeed?

Meet My Dogs!

Well, i have three dogs at home and they are my everything.  Let me introduce you to them!

That is my dog Jordan in the picture above.  She is my first dog i ever had.  I got her when i was in 1st grade and now she is 12.  We are not really sure what kind of dog she is because we got her a kennel and they though she was a mix of husky and collie, but we don't really know.

This right here is my dog she-she!  She is my fave out of my three dogs.  SHH don't tell the others!  She is a Shih Tzu, and boy does she have a personality!  She is a little dog in a big dogs body.  She loves the outdoors and will spend all day out there rain or shine.  She loves the snow also!  She is a very independent little doggie and i love her.

My third dog is daisy.  She was really my grandma's dog, but she needed a companion to play with and was lonely living alone with just my grandma.  She gave daisy to live with us so she could be happy with my two other dogs.  She still loves my grandma though.  Whenever she comes over daisy won't leave her side.  She is a very loving dog and is just like a little baby.  She is a great addition to our family

American Idol has changed the music industry

American Idol has been know as one of the most populars shows on television.  Not only is it an entertaining show, once the show is over you can still follow your favorite artist for years to come.  Look at Kelly Clarkson, she won American Idol 10 years ago and her career is still going strong with 5 albums, and multiple grammys. 

Now with a show like American Idol,l it is allowing artists to be seen not in an easier way, but in a different way.  I don't say easier because ones journey on idol can be just as tough than trying to make it in the business the old fashion way.  Now because of idol many other TV shows have been created such as X Factor, The Voice, and the Singoff, and starving artist are having so many different way of making it big.  With all of these different music competitions it is opening so many doors for singers.

The most recent winner Scotty Mccreery was an average high school kid playing baseball, and singing country music around town at local festivals.  He audition for idol just for fun to see how far he could make it and he ended up winning the whole show!  Not only does Idol open doors it also allows to find hidden talents.  Scotty wasn't living out in Nashville trying to become a singer, he was just a high schooler living his live as any high schooler should.  Idol has allowed him to make music part of his life forever. Now his debut album is platinum and he is currently on tour with Brad Paisley and The Band Perry.  May his career be a long and Successful one.

American Idol one of the greatest talent shows in the world has allowed many artist to be seen that wouldn't have been found otherwise.  May more talents be found in the years to come!

My First Blog

Hello everyone I'm Maria and this is my first blog!  I have to do this for an internet tools class but i actually have been very interested in blogging for a while now, but i never knew how it worked.  What shall you expect on my blog?  Well for a starter I'm a HUGE reality TV fan.  Mostly the music competition shows such as American Idol and X Factor.  Expect a lot of blogging about Idol, it is my obsession!  Also i am a animal lover.  I have 3 dogs Jordan, She-She, and Daisy, expect me to blog pictures of them!!  Lastly, I'm a theatre nut.  Whether I'm acting in a play or just sitting in the audience.  I am a theatre major and after college i would love to move to either NYC or LA to either act or work in the theatre business in someway.  It it my life.  Alright well talk to you guys later!
